To link to an album in a subfolder using HTML, you can include use simple relative paths. For example, if I put my album in a folder called "wedding", then I can link to it like so:

<a href="./wedding/index.html">Wedding Photos</a>

Hope this helps!

There is a "back to home" link option that you can configure in the album generation settings. This link is inserted onto each index page. (And the index page is just one click away from any single photo).

Still, I'd like to add more navigation options for future releases. If you'd like to be notified of new versions via email, please feel free to sign up for the Web Album Generator Announcement List.

I like Web Album but would like the page to go back to the web page in which the link was set from. Instead it takes it as many clicks as photos seen. I wish there were a button that you could link back to instead of using the browser back arrow. I haven't put it on my site as yet.

For the record, you can already manually sort photos by selecting one or more photos from the list and clicking either the blue "up" and "down" arrows at the bottom of the list, or by using the "Move Photo Up" and "Move Photo Down" commands in the "Photos" menu.

My client asked me to put a youtube video on a gallery I made from this program. I had to do a quick code job but It gave me an idea for a future feature. The ability to put HTML code blocks as objects in a gallery.

Basically you would add a new item the Photograph Tasks menu. The option would be "Add Code Block (Advanced)"

The Code Block page would have the following fields:
Thumbnail (It would give you a list of default thumbnails like: Flash, Youtube, Movie, Sound. It would also give you the option to upload a custom thumbnail.)
Code (This is where you drop the code.)
Object Title
Object Description

When the program goes through creating the pages, when it comes to a HTML block it would instead drop the code block where the image would have normally gone.
This would add a whole new layer of usability for this program. It would expand past a Photo Gallery program into the realm of Media Gallery programs.

----------------------

Manual Sort
I would like to be able to move selected images up and down in the list by clicking options labeled 'Move Photos Up' and 'Move Photos Down'.

My address is http://www.hollyscloset.com and the page(s) I'm trying to access are at http://www.hollyscloset.com/winnistutoriallessons/index.bin or at least that's the file that is going there. If you could send me an email address (to hklass@gmail.com) where I could send you some screen shots I will show you how Araneae is saving the html files in .bin. That's why I don't think it's my server. I've already checked WSFTP and they site the server too. The files appear at the server but not as html. I was thinking of trying to upload the file in html to another folder that's working. I tried just now and it saves as a .bin file.

I just tried to access the bin file in winnis by typing in the url and it isn't working today.

With HTML files, it doesn't matter how they're transferred via ftp (bin versus text transfer modes, for example). This really, really sounds like a server problem, and I think it's worth looking into it as such.

Could you provide the website address where the pages aren't displaying as expected? This would make it easier for me to investigate.

No, that isn't it. When I go to WS-FTP to transfer the file it shows as a bin file in both windows. In other words the file I'm sending is in bin and it's what I get from Aranea when I save as a html file. Wish I could show you a screenshot so you could see what I mean.

I've gone back and checked pages I've made in Aranea before this problem and they are htm or html files. I always scroll down and select htm and don't know what else I can do. They end up as, I guess it's bin. I just went back again and tried it but the same result. Do you think I should reinstall Aranea? I recently had my motherboard die and installed it after that but this problem has been going on for a long time before that so I don't think that would help.

Do you have any other ideas?

I don't think you're doing anything wrong; this actually sounds like a web server misconfiguration. If the web server is sending HTML files as text documents instead of HTML pages, then you'll see code instead of a properly formatted website.

Try contacting your web host and alert them to the issue. If you're configuring your own web server, then you'll have to adjust the "MIME types" to serve HTML as "text/html," but chances are that someone else that manages your web server can do this for you.

I hope this helps; best of luck!

I'm a very long time user and have been having trouble for at least six months in saving my files in html. Perhaps I'm ignorant and a bin file is the same thing but in any event when I upload them to my web site they won't open. When I type the url in I just get the code so the pages are being transferred. I have tried everything I can think of to make them save in html but no luck. I can add to earlier html files because they are already html.

My domain and web site are currently just a repository for my old pages. Need to be able to use it because I've had to resort to Google Documents to present my lessons in a tutorial writing course I'm taking.

Yes, you can still add HTML links and other codes to your titles and captions, but this option has to be explicitly enabled in the most recent versions of Web Album Generator.

Click on "File" then "Advanced Options" and select the "Allow HTML in titles and captions" option. From then on, your albums will show the links. <img src="http://support.ornj.net/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

hello all,
i wanted to ask, if its possible to add html links into the Index Files, cause i allways put a link to my guestbook there, but since i downloaded the latest version, the links are allways shown as normal text.

and if the reason is that version, is it possible to get an earlier version anywhere?

Ah, .html was set to HTML - I've changed it to XHTML. All the rest were right though.

Everything seems ok when opening locally ("Open With" or "File>Open"), but when viewing source of an online site, the main document (XHTML) appears as a standard document without any formatting, but CSS and JS files appear correctly...

There's a options screen that associations file extensions (such as .css, .html) with specified document types. Are these set correctly for you?

Does this only happen with you use "Open with," as opposed to "File -> Open"? If so, and especially if your settings appear normal (that is, '.css' is set to the "CSS document" type), then this could be a bug. Let me know, and I'll definitely look into it. <img src="http://support.ornj.net/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

Not sure if this is just my setup, or a bug/feature of Araneae...
Often when I open a document to edit (either by 'Open With' in Windows or 'View Source' in IE), the document type at the bottom of the Araneae window shows something other than what the document is, and this affects the highlighting.

For example, I open my website locally (which is XHTML 1.0 Strict) and the highlighting is for HTML pages. Or CSS pages will appear as Standard documents with no highlighting.

Is this a bug, or just my setup?
