Sounds like a pain! Unfortunately, I can't seem to reproduce this behaviour to investigate the cause. What version of Windows, Citrus, and ffdshow are you using?

I am trialing Alarm Clock. I gave it a playlist of MP3 files.

It opens codec (ffdshow audio decoder), multiple times, one for every song in the playlist, so I end up with many ffdshow icons running in the system tray.

I would be interested in purchasing the product, but this makes it unnacceptable.

Mark,

I've been using Citrus every day for probably 3 years now, however am upset that I can't wake up to FLAC files. I've recently replaced most of my mp3's with FLAC, however receive the same error as described in this thread on Vista 64. I've attempted to add a blank 2 second mp3 for the first file of the playlist to try and get it to play in my external player, however that resulted in the same error.

Help! I don't want to have to look for another alarm clock--EVER!

Hi Mark

Im having a similar issue using Windows Vista. I have my favorite .M3U online station set as my alarm. Steps taken are ...I went to new alarm then choose folder icon then choose the .m3u on my desktop and then I choose use external media player ..then set alarm. The alarm time passes and I received the following pop error in my system tray(bottom right above citrus's icon). "Media Error, cannot find the specified file. Make sure the path and the filename are correct (MCI Error Code: 725)."

I know for sure the file is there and when i clicked it from my desktop it opens winamp and starts playing it.

Might you have seen this or understand this problem?

thanks

Hi there, Mark.

Thanks... pretty stupid of me for not trying that by myself. I just right-clicked on the m3u file and "Open with" and "Choose another program" and Winamp and "Always use" etc etc and now it seems to be fine. Though I have no idea what caused such anomaly. Well, as long as it's working it's fine. Thanks for your help. And once again sorry for the first post, I just was a little angry when I woke up at 6 am and realized that Winamp was still playing music and the Japanese course was playing inside Citrus.

Thanks! And by the way, there probably is no better alarm clock on Windows. So keep up the good work.

Hi there,

So double-clicking the m3u file works fine, but your external player doesn't launch when it comes time to play it with that option enabled? That's pretty strange!

Try resetting the file associations for Winamp and that and see if it has any effect. If it doesn't, perhaps try a different playlist format (other than .m3u) that Winamp supports.

I actually haven't heard of this happening before. Generally, if there's an error when launching the external player, Citrus just echos out whatever reason Windows gives it for the failure to launch, so it is pretty unusual for Windows to report a file association problem to Citrus, but not when you simply double-click the file. I'll see if I can do anything to reproduce the error locally so I can investigate more.

Sorry, got a little angry there. For additional information: playlist is fine, all the files are mp3's and paths are fine, since I created the playlist with Citrus. And I had my Winamp playing at the same time when the alarm went off (though I see that irrelevant because when i try testing it now, without Winamp playing, it stills gives me the same error). The idea for that alarm was to replace the active playlist with another (I like when music plays while I'm asleep and wanted Citrus to replace the music playlist with language learning program mp3s). The m3u file opens nicely when I open it in explorer. And the m3u file works perfectly inside Citrus, too, but that's not what I'm after.

I made a playlist and Citrus won't open it in an external media player. It opens it in the internal mode and gives me an error that "No application is associated with the specified file for this operation." What the hell does that mean? I tested it while I was setting the alarm up and it worked perfectly, though when it was the time to work in real time, it failed. What the hell does it mean by saying that I don't have any applications for a m3u file?

Heh, the anonymous posting is new to the forum; I think it'll encourage more questions, but it also seems to encourage login mistakes. (I've posted messages as anonymous by accident, but thankfully I also have moderator privileges and can fix that without anyone being the wiser. ;-))

I'll see if there's a way to better clarify if you're logged in or not when it comes time to post. But, for now, if you're asked to do math before posting, then you're not logged in.
