The best way to "insert" your album into another page is to use an iframe. Other than that, all I can recommend is to just add a link to the album; stand-alone albums are mostly what WAG was designed for. <img src="http://support.ornj.net/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

Hi,

I was very excited, to run across your "WAG" and for a moment I thought, that my prayers were heard.
After all, it's a wonderfully application, that easy to use (I've already created a sample file in no time)! So here's my problem -I've build a little web site (using expression web without prior experience in websites), that display "goods", with a number of thumbnail images under each item. Clearly, it's not the best way to do tings. In short, I would like "WAG" to enable me to upload each new album, so that it shows up under it's corresponding item (text frame). Can you explain to me the steps I need to take, if at all possible to reach my objective? I apologize for being a little wordy in addressing my predicament..Thanks - Dan

This differs from web host to web host, so you'll likely need to speak with your web hosting provider to get the exact address of your album after it has been uploaded.

I'm not familiar enough with web.com to offer step-by-step instructions, but as a general rule you shouldn't have to know any HTML code in order to upload your album.

There are some basic upload instructions here, but if you need specific uploading help, it may be best to contact the web.com technical support staff.

Just to clarify; the IE browser will not run the PHP code, but checking the "Active Content" box lets me see the pages that I am building with mixed HTML/PHP content which is what I was after. Thanks again.

Mark,
Thank you for your help. I shall follow up. In the meantime I have found another solution by using "Internet Options" "Advanced Tab" and setting "Active Content" to on. It works just fine. I like the editor, it is well thought through and uncluttered, unlike some others I have tried. Thank you.

PHP is an interpreted language, so it must be run through a compiler to view the results. If you want to develop PHP websites on your own computer, you'll need to run your own webserver with PHP enabled. I'd suggest looking at XAMPP, which was developed for exactly this sort of purpose.

Mark

Many thanks. http:// has indeed fixed the problem. I was cutting and pasting the url to the appropriate WAG box and deleting the preprinted http:// in the process. I'll be more careful in future.

When including a link home on the albums, make sure to include the "http://" when typing the URL of your home site. (That is, type "http://www.example.com/" instead of just "www.example.com".) I think that should fix the problem you've described.

As for the colour schemes on Windows Vista, I appreciate the bug report. I'll look into the issue as soon as I can. <img src="http://support.ornj.net/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

First of all, many thanks for WAG which I have been using pretty successfully for about 6 months. However, I wonder if you may be able to help with a couple of problems please.

First of all the back to home link. Sometimes, although I am careful to enter the correct url when creating the album, it does not work on the web because the link is actually the address of the site where the album is located immediately followed by the web address of my home page. When I look at the appropriate index.htm file, it shows the correct address (just as I entered it). Is there anything I can do to change this behaviour?

Finally, I have just upgraded to Vista. WAG seems to still work OK although I have noticed that I cannot now save my preferred colour scheme as before. In fact, WAG offers to overwrite the default settings - no chance to rename - but actually leaves the default as it is. Not a major problem but perhaps there is a solution?

Thanks again,

V

In windows Vista, you can click on the Start button and select "Computer." From there, type the name of your FTP server in the navigation bar at the top of the window. It should prompt you for a username and password. Once you've successfully connected to your FTP server, simply drag and drop your album folder to your FTP site.

I hope this helps. I'd like to update the upload instructions and add an animated demo for Windows Vista in the very near future. <img src="http://support.ornj.net/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />
