Here's my suggestions for the next version of Araneae:
- fix the bug in find and replace that can stop it from replacing across multiple files.
- allow find and replace across multiple lines.
- add some simple regular expression like ability to the find and replace, just a wildcard character would be great.
- customizable quick tags, so i can assign a piece of code with a shortcut key (ie. <img src=""> to key ctrl+s).
- can get rid of the insert date, colour, image, link and font tag or hide them under an insert menu or something so i don't have to see them anymore =)
- ability to convert selected text to be uppercase, lowercase, title case or sentance case.
- option to save the file in unix text format.
- refresh or reopen an open file (F5 would be a great key for this).
- syntax highlighting for different languages, would be best if the highlighting settings could be handled with external files for different languages.
- option to be able to set the "Files of type" in the open file dialog box to different user defined extensions.
I think thats all, general speed improvments and smaller executable size are always good too.

Araneae 5 Suggestions (4 posts)

Hi Nurb,
Thanks for the suggestions! Most of those are definitely going to be in Araneae 5 (in fact, saving in UNIX-format is already available in Araneae 4.5x).
Regular expression searching sounds like an interesting idea, and I'll see if I can squeeze it in in time. I'm not too sure about converting text to upper/lower/Sentence, since CSS can acheive the same effect. -
Oops, just found the save format options. Would be nice if they were easier to access like in metapad were it has a convert section under the "File" menu. CSS can handle text that way but it isn't really the best solution, although nor is text conversion the most important feature =).

Perhaps something like Ctrl+Up to capitalize the current selection, Ctrl+Down to decapitate the current selection.
That doesn't sound too hard from a programming standpoint.
Thanks,
