Citrus Alarm Clock Frequently Asked Questions
    Last updated September 3, 2011

I've lost my license file or didn't receive it after placing my order
Most missing licenses are the result of an aggressive spam filter. Try double-checking your email program's spam folder to see if it got shuffled there somehow. Your license can be also be re-sent free of charge if you require it. Please send an email to "support" at ornj.net along with your full name and the email you used to order the product. Note that licenses may take up to one business day to arrive.

Does Citrus Alarm Clock contain any adware, spyware, or viruses?
No! In fact, Citrus has been tested by at least two independent third parties to ensure that the download doesn't contain any viruses, spyware, adware, or malware: Softopedia awarded Citrus the 100% Clean Award and McAfee's SiteAdvisor declares Citrus a green download.

Also, I recommend checking the MD5 hash of the downloaded file to ensure it hasn't been tampered with. (See the next question)

What is the MD5 hash of the Citrus Alarm Clock setup program?
As of version 2.3.4, the MD5 hash of the setup program should always be FDD2E75CA3444A2ADE6BA1D06AD57CB2. Anything else suggests that the file has been tampered with by a third party.

My alarm "beeps" instead of playing media
As an emergency back-up precaution, Citrus Alarm Clock will beep repeatedly instead of playing the media file whenever an error prevents the media file from playing properly. Check to ensure that the media file you specified has not been deleted, renamed, or corrupted. Also ensure that your system's speakers are plugged into your computer. If the file exists and the speakers are plugged in, you may not have the correct Codec installed to play the file---downloading the Codec may fix the issue. Lastly, if the file plays in your system's default media player, but not in Citrus Alarm Clock, try checking the external media player option in the alarm settings screen.

My alarm's display popped up, but I don't hear anything
Ensure that your computer's system volume is not muted or set to a very low level; Citrus can do this for you if the "Ensure volume" option is checked on the program options screen. Also ensure that your computer speakers are turned on, and that headphones are not re-routing the audio. Finally, Citrus is configured to gently fade in the audio at alarm activation time, which may take a short while to notice.

My alarm did not activate at its scheduled time
Ensure that your system date is configured properly and that your alarm was not set to PM instead of AM (or vice versa).

Citrus Alarm Clock must be running in order for an alarm to activate. Logging out of your Windows account or shutting down the computer will cause Citrus Alarm Clock to quit. If many people use the same computer, use Windows' "switch user" feature instead of logging out of your account.

My computer did not wake up from sleep mode before the alarm activation time
Citrus Alarm Clock will wake up your computer system from its low-power "sleep mode" one minute before alarm time. This may not apply to "hibernation mode" (which is different from "sleep mode") on all computers, however. If your computer is configured to hibernate instead of sleep, configuring it to sleep only may solve the issue. Note that Citrus Alarm Clock will never turn on your computer from its off state.

If you are running Windows 7 or higher, your computer manufacturer may not have configured Windows to wake up from sleep mode automatically. In the Windows control panel, select "Power Options" and select "Change plan settings." Select "Change advanced power settings" and click "Change settings that are currently unavailable." Set the option "Allow wake timers" to "Enable" and click OK. Citrus should then be able to wake your system from its sleep state.

Note that if your computer's BIOS is configured to the wrong date, your computer will not wake up as scheduled. Re-booting your computer into its BIOS configuration mode may allow you to re-set the date. Consult your computer's manual for details.

Double-check to ensure your alarm was configured properly. Ensure that your system date is configured properly and that your alarm was not set to PM instead of AM (or vice versa).

To ensure your computer will activate, always test a sample alarm beforehand.
Citrus Alarm Clock must be running in order for an alarm to activate. Logging out of your Windows account or shutting down the computer will cause Citrus Alarm Clock to quit. To ensure Citrus is running, use Windows' "switch user" feature instead of logging out of your account.

Citrus may not be able to wake certain laptop models while their lid is closed. If this applies to your laptop, ensure the lid remains open overnight.

When my computer wakes up, pressing SPACE or holding down the middle mouse button will not activate snooze mode

Ensure that your computer is configured to log back into your account afer it wakes up. Otherwise you may need to select your Windows username and type your password before you can interact with your alarm.

Citrus Alarm Clock is not running in my preferred language

Citrus Alarm Clock includes a multi-lingual interface. To set your preferred language, you must be running Windows in that language. (For example, running Citrus Alarm Clock on a French version of Windows will result in a French version of Citrus.)

Alternatively, you may specify your preferred language using command-line parameters. If you run the program with the -l switch followed by your language and region code (For example: citrus alarm clock.exe -l fr-CA ), then it will force Citrus to use that language and region, if available.
