Comments and compression rate (7 posts)

First of all: great piece of software! Until now I used ThumbHTML, but Webalbum is even nicer. I still have 2 problems:
No. 1: adding comments to pictures works only fine with English letters. German letters (ßüöä) are not supported and "translated" into correct HTML. Probably the same with any French, Spanish.... Keeps me using ThumbHTML since I don't want to correct everything.
No. 2: the thumbnail jpeg compression rate seems to be too high. Thumbnails look too sketchy.
Keep going! Cheers from Munich.

Thanks for the notification about the non-English letters. I'll have that fixed for the next release.
Personally, I think the compression rate is well suited for a typical thumbnail, but a lot of people have been harassing me for a customizable compression rate, so I'll probably work something out.

Please add me to the harassment column. I also feel the compressison is too high for the thumbnails. A range of choices or a variable slide would be ideal. Another web album app has this feature and I've found it to be quite handy. I'm knocked out by the rest of the program. Nicely done!

I was almost ready to use WebAlbum Generator instead of all the other programs I had used before, but although it is a really nicely laid out, well programmed utility, there are a few big points I am missing
:
-> Thumbnail compression is WAY too high! (please make at least a choice of three compression rates)
-> Navigation bar should have the option to be on the left or right side (maybe in a frame)
-> Picture size can not be selected freely. This is a big drawback, if I would like to optimize my website appearance. (e.g. if I would like to use 700x525 instead of 800x600).
Other than that great work! I would love to use an updated version of this program!
Cheers,
Helmut

Did you know that free web space is usually provided with your Internet service? Use it to share your digital photographs with friends and family! Web Album Generator is a software program that creates all the HTML, JPEG thumbnails, and CSS for your online photo albums—all you need is your digital pictures!

ThumbHTML enables the rapid deployment of digital images to the web. You choose the folder containing the images you wish to show, and use the program to generate thumbnail copies (and other sizes). Simply click the 'create thumbnails' button. You then choose the number of images to be displayed per page and a page title, and click 'Make HTML'. That's it - all you then have to do is to upload the entire folder (including the thumbnails sub-folder) to the web. There are a number of additional configuration options, including user-selected colours and drop-shadows. You can create pre-defined sets of re-sized copies of your images with one click using the 'batch resize' facility. Webalbum doesn't have so many possibilities ...
