Hi! Your program is easy to use and I like the results.
I want to put the gallery into an existing web page built with Dreamweaver. WAG generates the .alb file, but can I somehow insert it into the existing html? I tried opening the .alb file with Notepad and inserting the code into the page, but it only displayed the text when I previewed.
    Is this possible with WAG?
    Thanks, Michael

Generally, the albums created by Web Album Generator are designed to stand on their own. Still, if you'd like to modify the albums or copy and paste portions into Dreamweaver, that's entirely possible.

Note that the .alb file is just data used by Web Album Generator to save your photo titles and captions, the actual album includes several .html pages, .jpg images, and a .css file. These are the files that you'll need to import into Dreamweaver. You can find them in the same folder that the .alb file is located after you've generated your album.

    Hope this helps!

    Mark,
I had the same question as I'm working too with dreamweaver Studio 8.

After having imported html pages, jpg images and the .css file can each pages be attached to a template?

All my pages are based on a template. The template is built up with div-tag and a css file. So each page has a banner, css drop down menu, a small left column and the right one is the big area for all info, and then there is a footer.

So is it possible to apply my template to the album pages?

    Bye
    Martine

Unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with Dreamweaver to offer any step-by-step instructions, but I have heard from users who have successfully inserted their albums into existing pages.

Generally, the easiest thing to do that I can recommend is to simply include a link to your album from your existing pages (rather than try to insert the contents of each page into a custom template), but since the albums created by WAG are just normal web pages, you can edit them to look however you'd like.

I'd like to include template support out-of-the-box in the next version of WAG. If you'd like to be notified of new versions via email, please feel free to sign up for the Web Album Generator Announcement List.

    Hope this helps!

Cannot speak for Dreamweaver but all you need do is place the album folder as it is generated as a folder along with the rest of your web files on your PC, open a new page in your web editor (or an existing page if you wish) and then do an "Insert file" if you have such an action in your editor, and point to the file in the album folder called index.html. Alternatively just drag the index.html file to the open editing page. That's all there is to it!

I'm no web programmer, and I rely on Dreamweaver to make my sites (but don't wanna pay $300 for Adobe Fireworks). The lazy way to insert the generate album in your existing pages is to use frames. Make sure you are in code and design view, select the cell, click on the appropriate place in the codes and insert this code in Dreamweaver:

    <iframe src="album/index.html" width="512" height="370"> Please use a browser that supports iframes </iframe>

Replace the "album/index.html" with the your own file path generate by ORJN, Play with the width and height number as you see fit. When I use it there's a thin black border around the album, I haven't figure out a way to change that.

BTW, I go back to all the picture html pages and edit the link "Photo album created with Web Album Generator" with a _blank target (open in a new browser). If people click on it the ORJN.net page will open in my frame, which will look like crap.

PS. Thank you Mark for this easy to use program.

thanks a lot for your reply Amy, that frame thing made life a lot easier! Kind of a bit tedious to go through each html page adding that _blank target code to it though.

Really nice app Mark, I've spent countless hours looking for something like this that just does the job and integrates into dreamweaver. I'll be looking forward to the next release!

WordPress likes to manage its own content, so your best bet for uploading an album would be to do it from outside of Wordpress, in a separate folder. (For example, if you have Wordpress installed in a folder called "wordpress/", then you should upload your album anywhere except in that folder.)

Since every server configuration is different, I can't be sure why you might not be able to see your album after it has been uploaded, so your best bet may be to speak with your web hosting provider.

Also note that the latest version of Wordpress now has its own capabilities for making albums, so that may be an option for you.
