    List,

I am helping a Aranea customer to build a website via email. I don't have it. I sent a zipped test file with a test page and one css folder/directory with a few css files.

She can open the files and view the code but when viewed through a browser, the test page does not display correctly meaning it can't find the css file. What does she need to do to fix this situation?

Starting from unzipping the files, what does she need to do?

    List,

Can someone tell me where to find documentation or tutorials for this program? If it is not online, is it in her program? In the HELP menu?

In reference to my previous posting, note that not only do I not have this program, I don't use Windows but she does, XP, 2007 . This seems like a neat program, too bad it is not available for Linux. I'd try it.

    Hello L,

There is, indeed, a help file included with Araneae, which is accessible from the Help menu.

Araneae is simply a text editor, so there shouldn't be anything special required other than a web browser to view the files. If the document is saved, clicking the "preview" button inside Araneae will launch the file in a web browser (no temporary files are used and the file is opened from its saved location). If the file hasn't been saved, Araneae creates a temporary document in the same folder as the original document for the preview.

If the CSS files aren't being displayed properly, it's likely either because a relative path is incorrectly specified in the main HTML document, or perhaps the zip folder wasn't correctly extracted.

    Mark,

This is most helpful. Would there be a way I can get a copy of the help file? It is very slow going working by email to problem solve a program I have never seen and that the user does not know how to use very well.

    Mark,

To add to my previous question, where might the HELP files be on her computer? What file type are they? Can they be zipped so she can email them to me? I would prefer another method since she may not know how to find them or how to do this.

I suppose she could send you the help file. It's in the Windows help format (.chm) located in the Araneae program file's folder. I'm not sure how much help the help file will be, though. As I mentioned earlier, Araneae is just a text editor---so if there's any problem displaying the files in a web browser, the problem is likely to be in the text document or its relative path, not in the editor.

    Mark,

The document is now displaying. The problem was probably related to the unzip process. Unzipping it into another folder fixed the problem though I don't know how.

If the file is in a Windows format, my computer can't read it. I was hoping for a text or doc file type. I know it is just a text editor but she is not very familiar with it. I have used many and am having some success by guessing but that does not always work and is very slow.

Well there is no other recourse then but to do what we can. Thanks for your help. I hope you create a Lunix version someday. I will try it.
