Option for absolute/relative picture paths? And more suggestions... (2 posts)

First off, my apologies if this has been asked (and/or answered) previously, but I couldn't find an exact reference to the particular issues here...

I keep all my original pictures in an images\ folder off the root of my site. This is the same for all my sites.

After generating, the photo album index file is moved to the root folder of the site, leaving the WAG-generated html files in the albums folder where WAG puts them.

I'd really like to be able to specify the pictures as the "originals", without copying them (or the thumbnails) into the album subfolder I've defined.

So in other words, I'd like to be able to add my images (..\images\whatever.jpg) to WAG, then have an option to copy the thumbnails and resized images back into THAT folder (..\images\whatever-small.jpg for the thumbnails, ..\images\whatever-intermediate.jpg for the resized files), while leaving the html and support files in the WAG folder.

Is this possible to add, perhaps as an 'advanced' option or setting, at some time in the future?

At the moment, my workaround is to :-
    1) generate the album
    2) manually move all the resized images (with the "intermediate" sized images manually renamed to "*-intermediate.jpg" so I can add hrefs so the original images are clickable - that's mentioned in another post).
    3) edit all the img tags to refer to the new location
    4) import the WAG-generated bodies into my Expression Web 4.0 sources (the subject of another post, "Simple WAG output (body only) option"

It's actually way more complicated than that. But that's the subject of another post (Absolute/relative paths for index and generated files).

I really enjoy working with WAG, it saves me hours every time I use it. Plus, it's consistent, standards-compliant, and just the best fun to use. Keep up the great work!

P.S. I tried to register, but the registration URL is 404'd. That's another post...

First, thanks for letting me know about the registration 404. It's all fixed now.

I've had a few requests to be able to specify higher folders for storing the album images. I haven't given it much thought, since it would make it more difficult to upload the album and a little more prone to filename conflicts and such, but I do want to keep things as flexible as possible particularly for anyone who is trying to integrate an album into an existing site. It's on the wish-list for now; it likely wouldn't be too difficult to add as an advanced option. Depending on how quickly other parts of development goes, there's a chance it'll make it for the next release.
