Poor Thumbnail outputs? (13 posts)
-
The product is very nice. My only complaint is the quality of the thumbnails that WAG produces. Check this site for an example:

The thumbs all look fuzzy and grainy. Anyway to correct these thumbnails so they are crisp and sharp? Is there an option that I'm missing?
Keep up the good work! -
Anyone have a clue?

Yes, the compression ratio is rather high. In response to the number of requests for a customizable compression rate, this will be a preference in the next version.
Personally, (and obviously many people disagree on this) I would recommend the current compression/quality ratio. Essentially, the quality is good enough to distinguish the photographs while the filesize is only slightly over 1kb. People with dial-up modems would probably appreciate it. -

Thanks for the response.... Please take a look at the above listed photo album. The thumbs are way too fuzzy/grainy for my tastes (and many others who have commented after viewing the album).
The other suggestion I would make about this program is the ability to limit the colors in the pictures (primary pictures plus thumbnails) when you do the batch edits. I have yet to find a program that can do this effectively (in batch edits) while making the HTML/album pages.
One last suggestion you might consider for the future is the ability to add a watermark to the image as you do the batch edit.
Keep up the good work! Your program is really nice. A few more tweaks and I think you will have the best program period. -
I checked out your thumbnails and I have to say they are very clear-not fuzzy at all! Could it be your computer? Or maybe you need some spectacles- (just joking!!
) Would like to hear how others view them. -

The thumbs look very fuzzy/blurry to me. Here are a few samples from the album previously linked in this thread:

I agree with coldbeer. The thumbnails look fuzzy.
Maybe keep the file size of thumbnails to 2Kb or 3Kb is better.
Or, the best is, user can set the file size or compress rate as him like in WAG. -
Very fuzzy and not acceptable by any means.

Just create the thumbnails yourself maybe with jpeg resizer by http://www.virtualzone.de or the IrfanViewer. If they have the correct size you just can overwrite the original thumbs

Yes, I understand that I can create thumbnails with another program, but why use 2 programs when one should work?
There is obviously an issue with this version and I know it is being researched. -
Hi
Congrats on a great bit of software
.. though the thumbnails *do* look awful
That's the only thing wrong
Cheers -
Just a note that the latest version of Web Album Generator (1.5.0) produces much clearer thumbnails. You can download it from http://www.ornj.net/software/webalbum/download.html

Hi here
I made the thumbnails bigger .. and they become clearer. Nice program... CSS goes all the way.
