Can Citrus Alarm Clock be run successfully as a portable app from a USB drive on multiple computers? Example, take my settings from desktop to netbook while on travel without actually installing anything? Just moving and running from USB stick.

Not in the current version, but portable applications are becoming more and more popular, so it's something I'm considering for an upcoming release.

just found a claimed portable here http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/System/System-Enhancements/Windows-Portable-Applications-Portable-Citrus-Alarm-Clock.shtml

Other than the standard 'recently ran programs' nothing was really added to the registry that I see

I just submitted my registration payment, so we'll see how well that works with the portable version. Not sure how/where the registration info is stored.

I also have not yet tested to 'wake' the computer via an alarm.

Well, that's bizarre. I can tell you now that there is no special portable version of Citrus Alarm Clock. All settings are stored in the Application Data folder on the local user's hard drive. I think there are third-party applications that can re-map these settings to a USB drive, but that functionality isn't built-in to Citrus.

I have no idea why Softpedia is listing "Portable Citrus Alarm Clock" and I've asked them to remove the listing.

not truly portable. It would need to be able to use relative paths for the alarm media.
As an example ..\audio\alarm_clock_2.wav rather than the fill c:/ path

Portable would rock, especially for an app like this. One thing it would need however is a fail safe for media it can't find, say, typical wavs that always come in Windows installs.

Ive run into this here, the app react by running as normal, no sound, and a bubble notification in the systray. Not good for OCD people like me who move folders and files all the time!

Ouch, just thought of this. Doesn't CAC require the .NET Framework? I guess that pretty much limits it's portability.

    Mark,

I bet it's not very hard to get this done. Just put one more setting in the options dialog. Something like:
    (o) Store setting in the user profile (Allows per user settings)
( ) Store settings in application directory (Portable mode)

Then if the first option is selected then it works like now, otherwise use the Environment.CurrentDirectory to store the settings in the current program directory.

    Hope this helps,
    dotNET
