A brilliant piece of software - well done!

Althought it's been mentioned a few times before, the thumbnails are far too compressed. Optional compression would be a really good thing.

Secondly, being able to automatically number the images or even adding the image file name under the displayed image would be be a really 'gooder' thing. (I'm a writer - I'm allowed to make up words)

    Thanks -

If the code you are using to process jpegs allows you to modify the compression, I'd like to see slightly more compression for the big pictures, (for friends with only modem access) and less for the thumbnails. Having said that, the "optimal" values probably vary from album to album.

Is there any chance that you could allow the default compression to be overridden (separately) for the thumbnails and the (resized) large pictures? With sensible defaults, perhaps like what you have now.

I'm not normally a fan of extra options (adding complexity) but in this case there is no always correct value for the compression, so it makes sense for it to be configurable.

I also like the other suggestion (forget who made it) of clicking on the large picture and getting the full size original pic for printing purposes. This you would not compress

Thanks again for a really handy bit of software!

Yes, this will be available in the next release.

Those who haven't already done so, by the way, may want to sign up for the Web Album Generator Announcement List. It will notify you via email when a new version is released.

I'm considering this, but I'm not sure there's enough demand or need for such a feature. To be honest, it makes me a little nervous, since not everyone has unlimited web space and most users will want to upload everything that is generated.

I suppose it should really be optional (default OFF?), to avoid the size problem. Doh! More feeping creaturism, and options
