Uploading via Front Page or Geocities File Manager (7 posts)

    When I upload from Geocities File manager I get an invalid file name "Web_gallery_" and the name of an image. Web_gallery is my file folder. It is not uploading the index file.

    When publishing from Front Page it also gives file errors.

    What is the proper folder name/and file structure to be able to publish from Front Page?

    Hi coescove,

    Usally issues like this depend on the web server to which you are trying to upload your files. Perhaps Geocities doesn't like directory names with underscores in them?

    For the most part, file and folder names that consist of 8 lowercase characters or less shouldn't cause any problems. Try re-naming your folder to 'wgallery' and see if it works.

    Coescove did you ever work out a way to use the web album with Front Page? I would love to know if you did. eg I havent a clue how to get the album linked to the pages.

    :-// I have got it- I spent a bit more time thinking as I should have done before asking!! It is obvoius really. You just upload all the files to a Front Page folder and then create a new page in Front Page and insert one of the index files- up pop the thumbnails. Very good!

    :'( My turn - Im using Pagebuilder from yahoo. I was able to upload all files into a subfolder.
    NOW WHAT?????!!!!!! How do you insert the contents onto a new page???
    HELP!!!!!

    Well, I'm not familiar with Yahoo PageBuilder, but if your subfolder is set up correctly, you may already be able to access your page by visiting: http://geocities.com/yourid/subfolder/

    Where yourid, is your Yahoo ID, and subfolder is the name of the subfolder to which you've uploaded your web album.

    If this isn't the problem, then I think the Geocities help pages may provide more insight than I can.
