Okay, I've used 2.1 beta for a bit, and here's my comments...
It's very nice that you've added an 'unmute' function, and also the 'minimum' volume check. However, I think there has to be a choice between "ensure volume is at least ...%" and "ensure the volume is EXACTLY ...%". You see, the minimum ensures that the alarm will be heard, but nothing ensures you won't get a heart attack if you've forgotten the volume too high.
I think at least the fade-in duration option should be per-alarm, and not global. Some alarms you may need to take it easy, others not. For the same reason, I think that maybe even the volume level set could be per alarm. Some alarms may need to be loud (or get to loud), others may need to be more subtle.
I really like the "skip next activation", very nice one. On top of that, there could be a "skip the next XX days", which could be per alarm or for all alarms. If someone has lots of them (I don't), maybe it would be annoying to have to do it for each alarm.
One question: if the alarm window is half-covered by some other window in front of it, all the contents (i.e. alarm name, time and the 'snooze' line) get squeezed in the visible part of the alarm window. Is that intentional? Doesn't mean anything to me, it was just strange...
Finally, if you're interested in a Greek translation of the programme, let me know!
Keep up the good work, mate!
Cheers!

Thanks for the suggestion, skagon! I'd definitely be interested in a Greek translation. Email me and I'll let you know the details.

Downloaded beta 2... For some reason, after I close an alarm, the ffdshow icon that opens upon activation, doesn't close.
I've yet to see any of my suggestions get realised... for instance, I'd like to see a fade-in shaping option... instead of linear increase, we could also have an exponential, or an asymptote, or even double asymptote, between two user-definable levels, and a user-definable time. Am I asking too much?
I'll e-mail you shortly for the translation.
Cheers! -
...crap... forgot to log-in... it's me upstairs...

Hello again,
Now that 2.1 is in beta, there likely won't be any new features added until the next version. I always appreciate suggestions, though, and they're definitely under consideration.
-
I tried beta 2.1 and really like it, especially the minimum volume feature. Now that I'm hooked, but my trial is over, how can I get it back? I get an error when I try to reload it. When will the new 2.1 be available?
Tx -
Glad you like the new version, dpetty!
A new beta version will be released shortly (within a few weeks) to include some small fixes, then the final version will likely be released shortly after that.
Incidentally, what sort of error message are you getting when you re-start 2.1? If it just says that the beta has expired, then there's already a newer beta available here: http://beta.ornj.net/citrus-alarm-clock/ If it says anything else, could you elaborate, just in case it's an unexpected error.
-
Mark,
I was getting an error during installation. It might have been because I already had citrus already running and ignored the 'close' message. At any rate, I reinstalled beta from the link you included and its running happily now. Thanks. -
What about adjusting the wave portion of the audio controls as well? I have some programs that just love to turn down the wave portion as well, thus affecting the overall volume as well. Other than that great program. I think if that gets fixed I will buy it after the 30 day free trial is over.
-
Agreed; the wave portion should also be adjusted to ensure everything is at the right volume. I'll see if this can make it into the 2.1 release, but it may have to wait until the one after that.
-
Sounds good to me. I have tried other programs that try to replicate what your program does but I gotta tell you, as far as features price and functionality are concerned, nothing else even comes close! I will definitely buy the program at the end of the trial period (possibly sooner) especially since there are definite plans to adjust the wave portion of the audio control as well! Thanks again for your time.
-
Just a quick head's up that wave channel un-muting and adjusting is now in the latest 2.1 release candidate.
-
Awesome Mark. Thanks. I actually purchased this program last night and got the key emailed this morning! Love this program! Love it!

Received Citrus e-mail today announcing Citrus Alarm Clock v 2.1. Clicked on the link, but didn't see any way to get the free download of the new version. Please advise. I am a registered user.
-
Hello!
Registered users can download the normal setup file from the main Citrus webpage. If you have already entered your license file in the previous version, the new version will recognize it and automatically unlock itself.
If, for whatever reason, the new version doesn't unlock itself, you can either re-enter your old license file (it will still work), or request to have it re-sent to you free of charge by sending an email to "support" at ornj.net.
Hope this helps!

Hey Mark, your reply didn't help. There is no active link that I can find for a registered user to download the free upgrade to C itrus Alarm Clock V 2.1, would appreciate a more specific link that works. Thanks.
-
It's the big, orange download button located both at the top and the bottom of the page.
I see it might be a little confusing since it has the words "Free 30-day trial" underneath, but it's exactly the same program. There is no separate link depending on if you've registered or not, but perhaps I'll add another link to reduce any confusion.
-
OK, the "free 30 day trial" button worked, Thanks.

Hey, Mark... I've sent you an e-mail about the Greek translation. Don't know if you got it, I haven't received any reply...
-
I'm not sure if I got it; I'll check my spam folder and will get back to you. 2.3 is almost ready, so it would be perfect timing for a translation.
